Are you an academic with ability to carry out teaching and research in Mathematical Biology (or a related Applied Mathematics discipline)? Do you have an excellent research record and potential to obtain research funding? Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience in a
research-intensive Russell Group University?
We are seeking a talented researcher in Mathematical Biology (or a closely related Applied Mathematics discipline) to join our Mathematical Biology group of the School of Mathematics. Current core members of the group include Carmen Molina-Paris, Grant Lythe, Mauro Mobilia and Martin Lopez-Garcia. You will have an excellent research record, an aspiration to obtain external research funding and a passion for
delivering first-class inspirational teaching and supervision within a research-intensive university.
As a Lecturer, you will carry out research, teaching and management within the School, Faculty and University and contribute to academic leadership in the field of Applied Mathematics. We are particularly seeking applications from individuals with expertise in one or more areas related to Mathematical Biology, interpreted broadly (e.g. Evolutionary Dynamics, Theoretical Ecology, Biophysics, Immunology). Other research areas within the School of Mathematics are non-linear dynamics, materials science, mathematical physics, integrable systems, inverse problems and industrial applications. We are keen to receive applications from individuals with one or more of the following additional strengths:
• Ability to build links beyond Applied Mathematics, e.g. with industrial, professional and public sector organisations, engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, medicine and health, climate or environmental science.
• Ability to develop teaching or research links with statistics or data science.
In joining the University of Leeds you will become part of an internationally-focussed University that provides all our students with an outstanding education and experience and at the same time undertakes cutting-edge research of high quality, impact and significance.
How to apply:
As part of your online application, please include: (i) a covering letter briefly outlining your interest in the role, (ii) a copy of your CV and (iii) a list of publications, indicating those publications that you consider to be in topics related to Mathematical Biology. Please also include (iv) a statement (maximum two pages in total) covering your approach to student education and briefly how you could contribute to fostering a
diverse and inclusive academic community. A full research statement is not required at this stage.
You can apply for this role online; more guidance and information can be found on our How to Apply information page and in the attached job advert. Applications should be submitted by 23.59 (UK time)on Sunday 17 April 2022.
