Student members
If you are a student, your membership application must be mailed or faxed with the signature of your supervisor or a faculty member from your institution. Your membership application must be accompanied by an endorsement letter from an SMB member to receive the first year free. Student members do not have voting rights, but they are invited to participate in all other society activities and to help shape the future of mathematical biology both here and in the broad international community. Student members are eligible for travel awards to attend our annual meeting.
Application
You can pay membership dues on-line using a credit card, or you can opt to send a check by mail. Applications received after October 15 will be presumed to start January 1 of the following year, unless you request to have it begin with the current year (in which case you will receive all of the current year's issues of the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology if you opt to receive a printed hardcopy ).
New Members: Please select the "Join the Society for the very first time" option on the first screen, and then follow the instructions to choose your username and password. These will be saved upon completion of your membership application.
Renewals: If you are renewing your SMB membership, you are in the database and can use the "Renew your membership with the Society" option. Your username is the e-mail address you provided on your membership application last year. If you have forgotten your password, simply fill in your email in the "Forgot your login details" section and push "Send reset details". This will send you an automatically generated email with a link to login. If you did not provide an email, have changed email since, or can't remember what email address you used, you can either just opt to sign up as a new member or contact us (webmaster@smb.org) for other options.
If you have troubles, one quick trick to try is to clear your internet browser cache if you get an error and then try again. Please let us know if you have any troubles by sending an email to webmaster@smb.org with all the details you can provide such as OS, browser, error, etc.
