Guidelines for SMB Financial Support to Travel to the SMB Annual Meeting

Students are encouraged to sign up for the mentoring program in order to optimize their conference experience. See http://www.smb.org/meetings/mentoring.shtml for details.


How to Apply

Application Deadline for 2008 Annual Meeting: May 15, 2008

Materials to be submitted:

  1. Your name, institution, address and e-mail address.
  2. Affirmation that you are a graduate student pursuing a degree in a field relevant to the meeting and the society. (This is to be verified by the letter from your advisor (see #6 below). However, there is no need to submit transcripts or forms from the registrar.)
  3. Date you joined the Society for Mathematical Biology.
  4. A copy of your CV.
  5. Name of the advisor who will be supporting your application.
  6. Recommendation for support funds from your research advisor stating why attendance at meeting will contribute to your development and to your research and indicating what other support is available. This can be sent separately from the student's application.
  7. An outline of your financial needs in US dollars. Indicate any other support you are applying for.
  8. Title and abstract of your presentation and the date it was submitted to the society.

Notes:

  1. Travel arrangements, meeting arrangements, disbursal of funds, and review of abstracts are handled separately from decisions about travel support.
