Membership to the Society is open to those who have educational, research, or practical experience or are pursuing a course of study at the interface between the mathematical and biological sciences.

The Society for Mathematical Biology offers two membership categories:

Regular Members

It is available to those who held a professional degree and are active in their respective fields. Regular members:

• May receive discounted registration fee for the Annual Meeting.
• May hold elective office.
• May vote in Society elections.
• May vote at Annual General Assembly.
• May serve on committees.
• May sponsor a free student membership
• May sponsor student for travel award
• Are eligible to apply for conference or meeting grants
• Are eligible for Society Awards, unless serving on the Awards Committee.
• Are eligible for an online subscription of the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology
• May place free advertisements in the SMB Newsletter and SMB Digest.

To be eligible for the above benefits, regular members must be in good standing (current with paid membership dues).

The regular membership dues are:

Full Membership $50.00 annually
Reciprocal Full Membership (joint with ESMTB or JSMB) $40.00 annually
Eastern European & developing country membership $35.00 annually

Lifetime Members

The Society for Mathematical Biology also offers a Lifetime Membership for regular members. The cost of a Lifetime Membership is $50 for each year from current age of applicant to age 65, with minimum payment of $250 (five times current cost of full membership). Please use the following formula to calculate your dues:

Lifetime Membership Dues ($250 minimum) = (65 minus your age) x $50.

The lifetime membership cannot be purchased retroactively.

Student Members

It is available to students who are pursuing a degree of study in mathematics, biology, or in an allied scientific field. Student members:

• May receive discounted registration fee for the Annual Meeting.
• May apply student for travel award
• Are eligible for Society Awards
• Are eligible for an online subscription of the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology

To be eligible for the above benefits, student members must be in good standing (current with paid membership dues).

The student dues are:

Full Student Membership $25.00 annually
Reciprocal Student Membership (joint with ESMTB or JSMB) $20.00 annually
Eastern European & developing country membership  Free

The Society for Mathematical Biology offers a free introductory membership for one year. Undergraduate students can pay the student membership for up to four years. Graduate student can pay the student membership for up to five years.
